What is El Grito?
Each year, thousands of families come together to celebrate the diversity of Latino/a/x/e culture, honoring traditions, our ancestors and indigenous heritage.
This free and vibrant celebration is designed to bring our communities together through music, food, art, cultural pride and community resources provided by participant organizations. More than just a festival, El Grito is an opportunity for businesses and organizations to showcase themselves, be visible, and connect directly with the people who matter most, fostering trust and forming lasting bonds within the community.
Moypa is the fiscal agent for El Grito, providing financial oversight and support as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This partnership ensures transparency and allows us to focus on delivering a meaningful celebration.

Building Community & Creating Opportunities
El Grito offers organizations a unique platform to engage with the community, fostering connections and collaboration. By participating in this vibrant celebration, local businesses, nonprofits, agencies and educational institutions can showcase their services, share valuable resources, and build relationships with Latinx families. This engagement not only enhances community awareness but also strengthens support networks, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of our diverse community.
Through the community-centered initiatives, El Grito supports families, lifts voices, and opens doors for the next generation:

New entrepreneurs are taking their first steps into the market, driven by passion, culture, and the desire to build something of their own. It’s a chance to grow and connect with the community.

Futures for Latinx Youth
This space is designed to inspire, empower, and equip Latinx high school students as they navigate their educational and professional journeys, celebrating our community’s diversity and providing practical tools and opportunities that help them shape their own paths to success.

K-12 Field Trip
For many young students in our community, their cultural heritage can feel distant, as something they read about in books, not something they can see, hear, and feel. El Grito offers a chance to change that.
In partnership with local school districts, and community partners, the El Grito Field Trip is an immersive experience designed to build a bridge between children and their roots.
El Grito is built to uplift our communities—meeting their needs, connecting them with organizations, and creating a bridge toward a stronger future together.
Community Impact Through El Grito
Since 2005, we have partnered with organizations such as the Oregon Health Authority, Multnomah County, and the City of Portland to fund El Grito and fully support our local community.
